Stavanger by Maksim

Meet Maksim Molotkov, our Head of Stey Stavanger. Ask him anything about the city — he knows. To get you started, here are a few of his favorite places and activities.

I’m hungry — not for tourist food. Where do I go?

Stavanger is full of great restaurants. Go for Nordic bistros like SEID, Brasserie Pigalle, or Bellies for an amazing vegan experience.

And for comfort food?

Ouch Burger or Matsaya BBQ & Hotpot.

Where do you get coffee that actually wakes you up?

A double espresso from Sirkus Renaa, Molinå Bakeri, or Godt Brød. Also great bread and pastries.

I want a run that makes me forget I’m working — where to?

Mosvannet is an easy 3 km loop. Want to really switch off? Hålandsvannet is around 7 km and worth it.

I need out of the city, now — what’s the fastest nature fix?

On a sunny day, head to Månafossen or Preikestolen. In winter, Sirdal for a day of skiing.

It’s pouring — what’s still worth doing?

Cinema, bowling, or minigolf with friends.

What’s the place you almost don’t want to tell me about?

Thai Street Food on Pedersgata — small, authentic, and very good.

Dining solo — where do I go and still feel at home?

Most places here work solo… Sabi Omakase is a beautiful experience. Renaa or Hermetikken if you want something special.

My afternoon just opened up — what shouldn’t I miss?

A Damp sauna session in the evening, followed by a swim in the fjord. Hommersåk is a favourite.

Where do I go to understand what really drives this city?

Pedersgata or Vågen — that’s where you feel the pulse of Stavanger.

I’m feeling the sweet tooth.

The go for ice cream from Sirkus Renaa.
